Sunday Sermon - 02/17/2019 - 2 Timothy 4:1ff
Opening Prayer:
O Holy God, though debauchery and injustice fester in our world and in our hearts, nevertheless you are the great judge of creation, and your righteous justice prevails in innumerable invisible ways. Teach us to fear you with adoration and humility, to call on you, as did Moses and Aaron and Samuel. Teach us to seek forgiveness for our sins, to offer forgiveness to those who have sinned against us, and to humbly accept the consequences and circumstances of our decisions. And so may you be honored in the righteousness and peacefulness of your people. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Closing Prayer:
O Holy God, how deceptively long is the way of righteousness, how full of painful goodbyes! O Lord, teach us to no longer seek the goods and honor and adoration of mere humanity, but to yearn for the divine satisfaction found only in Jesus Christ! Teach us to accept our sorrows as opportunities to turn again to the Savior! And so may the hearts of your people be cleansed of impure and disproportionate desires, that you may be honored as the one holy desire of our hearts.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
