Sunday Sermon - 03/24/2019 - Ezekiel 33:7-20
Opening Prayer:
O Holy God, in loving-kindness you again reassembled us today, having brought us through another week of untold joys and sorrows, bestowing upon us the honor of gathering with your people incorporate submission to you. The continual reassembly of your church is no small matter, for countless distractions, some wholesome and others not, are weekly placed upon the hearts and minds of your people, and it is no less than your divine hand that holds us together amidst the pulling forces of culture, work, and home. Thank you for preserving your church. Thank you for the honor of standing with your people, the honor of proclaiming in song and voice the greatness of the eternal God. May you be honored in the desires and contentment and thankfulness of your church today.
We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Closing Prayer:
O Holy God, let Jesus Christ be received with joy by those people nearest to us, those people in our homes and neighborhoods and workplaces who do not submit to you, for he deserves the allegiance of all people, in all places, in all times. And let the Lord Christ be daily received with joy by your church, again and again, that he would be honored by the inner peace and contentment of his people! May our bodies and minds and desires be tuned to serve our nearest neighbors in patient endurance, godly silence, and timely words of truth. May our calendars and bank accounts and goals be fitted for acts of compassion, gifts of mercy, and faithful relationships. And so may your church offer you some return for the supreme gift of Jesus Christ, he who is all-mighty, all-glorious, and wholly lovely.
We pray this in the name of Jesus and for his glory. Amen.
